Remote Links March 29-April 5

Hello Talbot Families! This week in Kindergarten we are starting a new writing unit focusing on being persuasive. We will learn how to express our opinion and give reasons for why we have that opinion. Be prepared for some persuasive conversations at home! In math we are continuing our shape exploration on Wednesdays and are starting to wrap up our current unit by exploring 10 frames this week and math expressions. In Phonics we are making our vowel powers super strong by exploring words and word families. And last but not least in reading we started talking about how words that we know can sometimes try to be in disguise when we're reading. For example we know the word like, it's a snap word but sometimes it can look different by adding an inflectional ending such as -ed, -s, or -ing. These crafty words can't fool us, we went on a hunt in our small books and found the words looking, liked, and helped!

This week in Kindergarten we are wrapping up our How To writing unit and will be having class celebrations at the end of the week to share our writing. Wednesday Announcements!

Top of the mornin' to you! Today is Wednesday, March 17th and it's Saint Patrick's Day. This is a holiday celebrated by people who live in Ireland or have family that came from Ireland to another country. For example, Mrs. Kalloch's great grandparents came to the United States from Ireland so Mrs. Kalloch is Irish. That's the really neat thing about The United States, it's full of different cultures and people from all over the world!

If you are out and about today you may see lots of green, which is a color that is associated with Irish people and Ireland. Also be sure you check out the Rainbow Activity Board on SeeSaw today! Rainbows come up a lot in Irish stories because little people called Leprechauns.

Please see today's announcements and a couple of fun songs below. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Remote Links for March 9-15

Good Morning Kindergarten Families!

This week in Kindergarten we are starting a new unit about vowels. We will be working on our vowel powers and really listening for those sounds that help keep our words together. We are starting to read more challenging books. These challenging books have more words, more lines, new words, longer words and surprise endings. Remember to practice reading at home! You have access to your book bags, epic, and unite for literacy. In math we are solving harder story problems and seeing if there is more than one way to solve a problem.

Remember that spring is coming and on Sunday we "spring ahead" by changing our clocks by one hour.
