Remote Learning Plans February 23-March 1

Good Morning Kindergarten Families!
We hope everyone had a nice February break. 😊 We are now in the last week of the month and are starting a new math unit and a new writing unit this week! Our new writing unit is a focus on How To writing, like how to make a sun butter and jelly sandwich. We're excited to be able to teach others how to do things. In our new math unit we will continue to explore addition and subtraction and also learn more about geometry.

Just as a reminder, please put a change of clothes and an extra mask in your child's backpack. Accidents do happen and we don't always have something that will fit your child.

Friday Fun!

Happy Friday! We have been working so hard in Kindergarten but we also know how to have fun! Wiggle breaks are an important part of our day. They help us to focus while in the classroom but also provide fresh air and some vitamin D.

As much we LOVE the new playground at Talbot School, it's so much fun to slide down the hill. Sometimes no sled required!

         .

Have a wonderful week home for February Break next week. Make sure to enjoy the snow while you can!

Remote Learning Plans Week of February 9th

Good Morning Families!

Please see our remote plans below. This week we are celebrating the end of our pattern book writing. We have all worked really using patterns in our writing and adding a twist at the end. This skill has also helped us recognize patterns in our reading. So many books that we read have patterns and twists too! We are also continuing to study word parts and have been changing the first letter of a word to make a new one, like HAT take away the H and add a C you now have CAT!  During math we are practicing addition and subtraction through stories and expressions. Our brains are growing so much!

Remote Learning Plans February 2-8

Good Morning Families!

Please see our remote learning plans for the week below. We are continuing to work on listening closely to words to hear the sounds, this helps us to be better readers and writers! We are also starting to read our books with a smoother voice, this means that we recognize patterns in books and have built up our confidence with the help of our Super Powers! We have been using our picture power, pointer power, sound power and reread powers to help us become better readers. There are even more super powers, ask your child if they can name any of their super powers while reading their book bag books. These powers have also been helpful while we work on making our own pattern books during writing time, especially if we add a twist at the end! In math we are exploring more picture problems and becoming really great mathematicians! We are adding and subtracting with the help of pictures and math tools.

Do you think Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow today? If he sees his shadow that means six more weeks of winter and if he doesn't see his shadow it means an early spring. It's pretty snowy in Maine today so we'll have to see what Punxsutawney Phil thinks :)

Please have your child check SeeSaw on remote days for morning messages and assignments. The activities below are provided to give your child more “hands-on” practice with kindergarten skills. You can find links to videos by accessing our K blog through the Talbot site (Academics, Kindergarten Page.)
